NF Environnement

After the Lascaux IV labeling with congratulations from the jury in 2022 and 2023, the Semitour Périgord, always concerned about the ecological footprint of its major site and wishing more than ever to be at the heart of the initiatives initiated by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Dordogne Departmental Council and the communities of communes of Terrasson in Périgord Noir and Vallée de l’Homme, continues to work to strengthen its commitments in favor of a sustainable development policy according to the evolution of AFNOR criteria.

Écotourisme en Vézère

The eco charter ” Écotourisme en Vézère ” is the result of a collaboration between two intercommunalities and their respective tourist offices: The Lascaux Dordogne-Vézère Valley Tourist Office, the Vézère Périgord Noir Tourist Office & the Grand Site Operation of the Vézère Valley, community of communes of Terrassonnais in Périgord Noir Thenon Hautefort, community of communes of the Vallée de l’Homme.

Developed in 2018-2019, this initiative aims to engage local tourism stakeholders in a sustainable approach. Objectives: formalize the commitment, create an eco-responsible network, structure the offer and promote the pillars of sustainable development. It is therefore with great enthusiasm that Lascaux IV becomes a member of the eco-charter “Écotourisme en Vézère”, an initiative aimed at contributing to more responsible and more respectful tourism in the Vézère valley, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Grand Site of France!

Bike home

Soft mobility, such as cycling, is booming, and this is encouraging the development of national and local cycle routes. As the Dordogne is a major destination for bicycle tourism, Semitour Périgord is applying for the Accueil Vélo label in 2024 for its sites in the Vézère valley (Lascaux IV, Lascaux II, Parc du Thot and Grotte du Grand Roc). This initiative is part of a wider program launched by the Dordogne department and local authorities.

The “Accueil Vélo” label is a national label guaranteeing a welcome, services and specific facilities tailored to the needs of cycling tourists using cycle routes and paths. It is the promise of a quality welcome for cycling tourists in France. Becoming a “Accueil Vélo” means that we are committed to meeting the expectations of an ever-growing number of people who enjoy active, eco-friendly vacations.
