Review of the construction of Lascaux IV
It is difficult to imagine today the magnitude of the challenge represented by the creation of an integral facsimile of the cave of Lascaux… And yet, in just 2 years of construction, architects, artists and experts have brought to life a building inspired by the landscapes of the Vézère valley.
Lascaux IV is the culmination of an immense collective work: a large-scale project, a bold architectural project, and months of work within the Atelier des Fac-similés du Périgord. Each wall, each relief, each shade of pigment has been reproduced with such striking realism that one feels like entering the original cave.
